Welcome to Canada Eh!
Dear Friends and Fellow Model Ter's,
Welcome to Ontario, Canada! We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting you for this special week-long International Model T Ford tour. It’s an honour to welcome our American friends north of the border, and we can’t wait to share great roads, great lakes, great stories, and great memories together.
For many of you, this may be your first trip to Canada, so here’s a little preview of what to expect:
First things first - yes, it’s July, and no, it will not be snowing. We promise. There will be no igloos, no dog sleds, and your Model T will not require skis or tracks. Expect warm summer days, blue skies, and perfect touring weather (with the occasional polite Canadian breeze.) You'll notice that Minnesota may in fact seem more Canadian than this particular area of Canada.
You may notice we do things a bit differently up here:
Distances and speeds are in kilometres, fuel is sold in litres, and temperatures are in Celsius - don’t worry, we’re happy to translate!
Restrooms are called washrooms or bathrooms. Sodas are called pop.
A winter hat is a toque (even though you won’t need one.)
Denim jacket plus denim jeans? That’s a Canadian tuxedo, worn proudly.
Our money is colourful but it does smell faintly of maple syrup. (Okay, maybe not officially.)
Poutine (fries, cheese curds, and gravy) is a national treasure.
Beaver Tails are delicious pastries, not an actual tail.
You likely will not see a moose, however in the rare chance that you do, please do not attempt to pet it! They are not "Canadian friendly".
You’ll see maple leaves everywhere and yes, we really do love them.
For some reason we like to toss in a few extra "u's" into some of our spelling? Nobody knows why???
Most importantly, expect friendly faces and genuine hospitality. Canadians are known for being welcoming, helpful, and maybe saying “sorry” a bit too much (even when it’s not our fault.)
We are beyond excited to share our roads, our history, our humour, and our homes with you. Thank you for bringing your wonderful cars and your enthusiasm with you - we know this is going to be a week full of laughter, stories, and unforgettable Model T moments.
Safe travels, and we’ll see you very soon!
Warmest Canadian regards,
